Verified and Connected contacts

What the blue check means on people vs Accounts, and when a contact shows live Account details.

Written by M

Contacts are your private address book — until you Connect with another Account. After that, you both hold mutual contacts, and their live Account details can show on the card. Connect is the handshake; until then, the card is only what you typed.

The blue check next to a name means different things for a person and for an Account. One means they have a login. The other means your two Accounts have actually connected. Mixing those up is the usual source of “why is there a check here but not there?”

Verified (person)

A person can show a blue check when they're signed up.

That can appear before you Connect with their Account. It only means their email matches someone who has a login — not that you've mutual contacts yet. Useful as a “they're on the platform” signal, not as proof you're connected.

Connected (Accounts)

Connected means both Accounts chose mutual contacts.

When you're Connected:

  • The contact's Account name and avatar update from their live Account

  • Their Account can show a blue check

  • Shared team details on that contact stay visible while you're Connected

Connected Account contact

If you only saved an Account name and haven't Connected, you'll usually see the name you typed — not their live Account chrome. That's why a nickname you entered can look different from the name they use until you Connect.

Private nickname

You can set a private nickname on a contact so it's easier to find in your list. Only your Account sees that nickname. It doesn't change their live name for anyone else — handy when you know them as “Sarah at The Corner” while their Account is the venue name.

How you become Connected

Common ways:

  • They connect with you from Connections (when you already saved them)

  • You send or share an Invite to connect from their contact card

  • A booking is Confirmed when both sides are signed-up Accounts

Common questions

  • Why does a person have a blue check but the Account doesn't? Person Verified means they're signed up. Account Verified / live Account details wait until you're Connected.

  • Can I rename a Connected Account contact? Use a private nickname. Their live Account name stays while you're Connected, so both sides keep seeing the same Account name.

  • What if we Disconnect? Mutual contacts end. Bookings that already exist stay linked. You can invite them to connect again later.

  • Do I need to Connect to share roster work with another team? No. Connect is for mutual contacts. Sharing work you create for a shared roster member is Share with other teams — see Share work with other teams.

  • Are venues contacts? Yes. Saving from event Location search creates a contact (usually Live Venue). See Venues and event locations.
