Connect SuperChoice for super payments

Connect SuperChoice, make super payments, and track each contribution from the Superannuation dashboard.

Written by Emma

You can connect SuperChoice when you want to make super payments through a leading Australian superannuation technology provider from the same place you manage bookings and invoices, without exporting spreadsheets or re-entering every contribution by hand.

SuperChoice is a leading Australian superannuation technology provider with more than 30 years of experience. It is trusted by employers, payroll providers, accounting platforms, and major software partners including Xero and MYOB. This guide shows how to connect it, validate your employer details, choose contribution timing, and make super payments from the Superannuation dashboard.

Why use SuperChoice

Use SuperChoice when your team wants a trusted, direct way to make super payments and track them through to the fund, without running a separate clearing-house or spreadsheet process.

  • Make ready super payments through a leading Australian provider from the Superannuation dashboard.

  • Use direct debit or direct credit, depending on how your team pays.

  • Use saved payee fund and member details instead of re-entering them into another clearing-house workflow.

  • Send ready payments yourself, or queue them automatically when your contribution settings allow it.

  • Track sent payments in Payments and Batches, including whether they are submitted, received by the fund, or need attention.

  • Catch missing fund or member details before you send.

  • Prepare for Payday Super with a payment flow built for frequent, booking-led super payments.

Before you start

  • Use an AUD Account. SuperChoice Connect needs Pro or above when you have not started setup yet. An existing SuperChoice connection stays available on any plan.

  • Turn on superannuation first. SuperChoice settings stay locked while it is off — including if you turn it off later. You can turn it on from the SuperChoice Connection tab, or from Settings → Superannuation.

  • Make sure you can edit Account settings and integration settings.

  • Have the legal name, ABN, payment method, bank, and contact details ready.

  • SuperChoice opens on the Connection tab. Use Add employer info to finish Employer Setup (legal name, ABN, bank, and contact). After you save, Register with SuperChoice on Connection. SuperChoice usually opens a login page — click Register account next to Log in unless you already have a SuperChoice login.

  • Request payee payment and super details before you send. You can enter details manually when needed, but most teams send a secure request once and reuse the saved profile.

Register with SuperChoice

SuperChoice is where the employer is registered for clearing-house payments. After you save Employer Setup, the Connection tab shows Register with SuperChoice. That opens the SuperChoice registration page for this Account (https://www.employerpay.com.au/muzeek).

That page usually shows a SuperChoice login first. If you do not already have a SuperChoice login for this employer, click Register account. It sits next to Log in, under New user?. It is easy to miss. There is no way to skip it — the add-employer link cannot take you straight into the employer form.

If you already have a SuperChoice login, use Log in instead.

Then fill the fields SuperChoice marks as required, using the same legal name, ABN, payment method, bank, and contact you just saved. Many other fields are optional or only used in the portal.

SuperChoice login page. Register account is next to Log in, under New user.

Required on EmployerPay (self-enrolment)

Start

  • ABN — 11 digits, no spaces

  • Email address — used for confirmation and login emails

  • Confirmation that you are authorised to register for the employer

Employer details (Registered Business Name and Trading Business Name usually come from the Australian Business Register)

  • Trading business name — required

  • Postal address line 1 — required

  • Postal address line 2 — optional

  • Suburb, state, postcode — required

  • Telephone — required

  • Contact title, first name, last name — required

  • Position — required

  • Contact email — required

  • Portal username — required

Bank and payment

  • Payment methodDirect debit or Direct credit (see the Employer section below for how they differ)

  • Bank account name, BSB, and account number for the accounts that method needs

    • Direct debit: paying (debit) account and refund account, plus acceptance of the Direct Debit Authority

    • Direct credit: refund account (paying is handled when you transfer each batch with the PRN)

  • Payment cycle fields if the portal shows them (for example pay period frequency)

  • Accept the legal documents on the summary screen before you submit

After you submit, set your password from the confirmation email and complete multi-factor authentication so you can open the portal.

What must match here

When you register, use the same details you saved under Integrations → SuperChoice:

  • Legal / organisation name

  • ABN (digits only)

  • Payment method (direct debit or direct credit)

Bank and contact details should also match, or validation can fail.

You can skip (or leave blank) for this connection

These may appear in EmployerPay but are not used when connecting SuperChoice from your Account:

  • Working Party Number (WPN), when you already have an ABN

  • STP / payroll BMS product fields, unless the portal forces them for another product

  • Extra portal-only options (employee counts, arrangement codes, location labels) that are not part of the SuperChoice tabs here

You still complete contribution timing and Send contributions stays off until you turn it on. Connecting SuperChoice does not start sending. If the tile still says Setup required, finish Employer Setup, then register at SuperChoice with the same details. The connection completes automatically.

Collect payee details once

SuperChoice payments use the same contact payment profiles as the rest of the super workflow. You do not need to re-enter fund and member details into a separate clearing-house process every time a payee needs super.

From a contact's Payments tab, you can:

  • copy a Request link and send it yourself

  • send a tracked Request payment details email

  • enter details manually if the payee has given them to you another way

Invite links can also request payment details during signup, so new contacts can share bank, tax, and super details before their first payment is due.

Once the payee completes the request, the details are saved to the contact payment profile. Future ready payments can use that saved profile unless the payee's details change.

Choose SuperChoice as the payment method

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Go to Superannuation.

  3. Find Make Superannuation payments to others.

  4. Set Payment method to SuperChoice.

  5. Select Save.

Only one super payment method is active for new sends at a time. Existing super payments keep their original history and labels.

Open the SuperChoice integration

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Go to Integrations.

  3. Select Connect on SuperChoice (Pro or above). Below Pro, the tile shows Upgrade to connect until you have already started setup.

Integrations with SuperChoice Connected

The tile stays Available until you save Employer Setup. Then it shows Setup required until SuperChoice is connected. If you start and then leave, a next step stays on the SuperChoice card (and in email) until setup is finished.

Complete the setup tabs

Use the tabs inside the SuperChoice integration to complete each part of setup.

Connection

Use Connection to see the next step. After Employer Setup is saved, Register with SuperChoice opens the SuperChoice registration page. Use the same details you just saved. The connection completes automatically once SuperChoice has those details.

Send contributions stays off until you turn it on. You can leave it off if you want to keep super calculation and dashboard tracking without sending payments through SuperChoice yet.

If superannuation is still off, Connection also offers Turn on superannuation. That calculates contributions. It does not start sending.

SuperChoice Connection tab with Send contributions and Connected status

Employer

Add the employer name, ABN, and payment method.

The employer name and ABN should match the details held for SuperChoice.

Direct debit and Direct credit both get money to SuperChoice, but they work differently:

  • Direct debit — SuperChoice pulls the payment from your nominated account automatically. You do not need to transfer each batch yourself. Funds typically take 2–3 business days to reach SuperChoice after a batch is submitted.

  • Direct credit — Faster once you pay: you transfer the batch amount yourself (for example with Osko for a near-instant transfer). After each batch is submitted, open Batches for the amount and payment reference (PRN), then send that payment to SuperChoice.

Bank

Add the bank details needed for your payment method.

  • Direct debit: add the direct debit account and the refund account.

  • Direct credit: add the refund account. After a direct credit batch is submitted, the Batches tab shows the amount and payment reference (PRN) to transfer to SuperChoice.

Contact

Add the contact name, email, and phone number for super payment follow-up.

Contributions

The When to send super to SuperChoice field controls contribution timing. Choose one of two modes:

  • After each paid invoice: each fully paid invoice is sent on its own. When Send automatically is on, ready contributions are queued within about a minute of the invoice being fully paid. When it is off, you send them yourself from the Superannuation dashboard. Send automatically requires a validated SuperChoice connection.

  • On a schedule: paid invoices wait for the next batch run, then everything ready is sent together.

When you choose On a schedule, additional fields appear:

  • Frequency — Daily, Weekly, or Every N days.

  • Day of week — which day the batch runs (Weekly only).

  • Days between batches — how many days apart each batch runs (Every N days only).

  • Time — what time of day the batch runs.

  • Timezone — which timezone the time applies to.

  • Next batch — a preview of when the next scheduled batch will run, based on your current settings.

Finish the connection

  1. Save Employer Setup with the same details you will use at SuperChoice.

  2. Select Register with SuperChoice. On the SuperChoice login page, click Register account (next to Log in, under New user?) unless you already have a SuperChoice login. Then complete the employer form with the same details.

  3. The connection completes automatically. Opening SuperChoice also checks again. Re-validate with SuperChoice stays available if you have updated bank or contact details.

  4. When the tile shows Connected, turn on Send contributions only when you are ready to send, then Save.

If the connection cannot complete because a field does not match, the Connection tab shows what to fix. If SuperChoice does not have the employer yet, finish registration there — the connection completes automatically.

Disconnect SuperChoice

You can disconnect SuperChoice from the tile menu if you started setup and want to stop. This removes SuperChoice from this Account and stops setup reminders. Super calculation stays on if it is already on. Your SuperChoice registration is not cancelled. You can connect again later.

If SuperChoice is already connected, disconnecting also stops sending through SuperChoice.

Make payments from the dashboard

After an invoice is paid and the payee details are complete, the related super payment can appear on the Superannuation dashboard.

From Ready to send, you can:

  1. Select Send all ready to make all ready payments through SuperChoice.

  2. Open the row menu and select Send to SuperChoice for a single payment.

  3. Review the confirmation before sending.

Rows that still need payee details appear in Needs attention. Rows that need a resend or recovery appear in Issues or Payment errors. See Fix SuperChoice Issues and Payment errors to work out which tab you are on and how to use Investigate.

Track sent payments

The Superannuation dashboard keeps the payment history visible after sending.

  • Payments shows sent payments and their current status.

  • Batches shows submitted SuperChoice batches.

  • Direct credit batches can show the amount and payment reference (PRN) for your bank transfer.

  • Direct debit batches show the SuperChoice transaction details when available.

Status labels help you see whether a payment is queued, submitted, received by the fund, or needs attention.

Refresh payment status

After a payment is submitted to SuperChoice, status updates automatically while it clears and reaches the fund. If a payment looks stuck or you want the latest status without waiting, use Re-sync status:

  • On the Batches tab, open a batch card and select Re-sync status.

  • On the Payments tab, open the row menu and select Re-sync status.

  • Open a payment and select Re-sync status in the footer.

Re-sync checks SuperChoice for the latest payment and fund status. It is available while a payment is still in progress, including after automatic status checks have stopped.

What the settings mean

A quick reference for every control inside the SuperChoice integration.

  • Status badge — shows the current state of the integration. Connected means the SuperChoice match is complete. Setup required means setup is still in progress (details still need saving, or SuperChoice registration is not complete yet). Available means the integration has not been started yet. Sending / Not sending sits next to Send contributions — that is not this badge.

  • Register with SuperChoice — appears on Connection after Employer Setup is saved and you are not yet connected. Opens the SuperChoice registration page. New employers must click Register account on that login page (next to Log in) before they can add the employer.

  • Send contributions — the send switch. It stays off until you turn it on. Sending / Not sending shows next to the switch. When on, ready contributions can be sent to SuperChoice. When off, super is still calculated and tracked on the dashboard, but nothing is sent. Connecting SuperChoice does not turn this on.

  • Re-validate with SuperChoice — a manual check using your current employer, bank, and contact details. The connection usually completes automatically. Use this after updating bank or contact information.

  • Employer name — the legal entity name registered with SuperChoice. Must match what SuperChoice holds on file.

  • ABN — the Australian Business Number for the employer. Must match the SuperChoice record.

  • Payment method (Employer Setup) — how money moves to SuperChoice. Direct debit pulls from your nominated account automatically (typically 2–3 business days to reach SuperChoice). Direct credit is faster once you pay — you transfer the batch amount and PRN yourself (for example with Osko).

  • Direct debit account (Employer Setup) — the bank account SuperChoice will debit when collecting super payments. Only required for direct debit.

  • Refund account (Employer Setup) — where SuperChoice returns funds if a payment is rejected or needs reversal. Required for both direct debit and direct credit.

  • Contact name, email, phone (Employer Setup) — the person SuperChoice can reach for payment follow-up or queries about a batch.

  • When to send super to SuperChoice (Contributions tab) — chooses between per-invoice timing and scheduled batches. See the Contributions section above for details on each mode.

  • Send automatically — only available when timing is set to "After each paid invoice". When on, super is queued within about a minute of each invoice being fully paid. When off, you choose when to send from the dashboard.

  • Frequency, Day of week, Days between batches, Time, Timezone — schedule fields that appear when timing is set to "On a schedule". Together they define how often batches run and when.

  • Next batch — a preview that shows when the next scheduled batch will run based on your current schedule settings.

Common questions

  • Does SuperChoice change invoice totals? No. Add-on-top super stays separate from the booking invoice total.

  • Can Xero invoice sync stay connected? Yes. Xero invoice sync is separate from SuperChoice super payments.

  • I see a SuperChoice login page. What do I click? Register account, next to Log in, under New user?. You need that SuperChoice account before you can add the employer. Use Log in only if you already have one.

  • What do I need to fill in on EmployerPay? Use the required fields in Register in SuperChoice EmployerPay above. For connecting here, the critical match is legal name, ABN, and payment method — plus bank and contact details that match SuperChoice.

  • What’s the difference between direct debit and direct credit? Direct debit is automatic — SuperChoice pulls the payment, and funds usually take 2–3 business days to arrive. Direct credit is faster once you pay (for example with Osko), but you must manually transfer the batch amount and payment reference (PRN) to SuperChoice after each batch.

  • Can submission be turned off later? Yes. You can turn off Send contributions and keep super calculation and tracking without making payments through SuperChoice.

  • Why is the integration no longer connected after editing bank details? Required bank or contact details are checked again after they change. The connection usually completes automatically.

  • What should I do after a direct credit batch is submitted? Use the Batches tab to find the transfer amount and payment reference (PRN), then make the bank transfer to SuperChoice (Osko works well when you want it to arrive quickly).

  • What is the difference between Send automatically and On a schedule? Send automatically queues each contribution individually, within about a minute of the related invoice being fully paid. On a schedule collects all paid invoices and sends them together at the next batch time. Choose Send automatically for faster payments, or On a schedule if you prefer to review batches at a set cadence.

  • Do I need to re-validate after changing schedule settings? No. Schedule and contribution timing changes save independently. You only need to re-validate after changing employer, bank, or contact details.

  • A Super payment is on Issues or Payment errors. What now? See Fix SuperChoice Issues and Payment errors.

  • Why are SuperChoice settings locked? Superannuation is off. Turn it on from the SuperChoice Connection tab, or from Settings → Payments, before you can set up or change SuperChoice.

  • Does connecting start sending super? No. Send contributions stays off until you turn it on.

  • How do I disconnect? Use Disconnect SuperChoice on the SuperChoice tile. Super calculation stays on if it is already on. Your SuperChoice registration is not cancelled.
