Create an API key

Create a client and key for scripts and apps. Sign in from an assistant when you want it to use an Account without a key.

Written by Emma

A key lets a script or app call Muzeek on its own. Poly and other programs that send a key use this path. You create the key once, copy it, and store it somewhere safe. It is shown only at that moment.

If you wanted an assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or Grok to sign in and pick an Account, see Connect an assistant.

Both paths are also on https://muzeek.ai/developers.

Create a client and key

  1. Open Settings → API & MCP.

  2. On the API card, click Create API Client.

  3. Open the client, then click Generate API Key.

  4. Name the key and choose what it can do.

  5. Copy the key when it appears. You will not be able to open it again from this screen.

  6. Send the key as Authorization: Bearer or as X-API-Key. Do not put it in the URL.

You can revoke a key from the same client when you no longer want it to work.

When to use a key

Use a key for scripts and apps that send the key with each request. A connected assistant, or a key with Write Events, can add schedule items on an event.

Use sign-in for an assistant. Use MCP for assistants that don't have a direct plugin or connection on the Integrations page. Some assistants, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot, can connect directly from Integrations. See Connect an assistant.
